Wool Varsity Jacket, Black with Red Trim
Black Varsity Jacket with Red Trim and Leather Collar
Most varsity jackets stop at the baseball collar. This one trades it for a proper leather shirt collar — the detail that moves a letterman from the bleachers to dinner. The body is heavyweight 24-ounce melton wool in deep black, the raglan sleeves are pebbled top grain cowhide, and the ribbed cuffs and hem run a triple stripe of crimson and cream against black. White snaps punctuate the front; arrow-tipped leather welt pockets finish it below.
The raglan cut is borrowed from vintage award jackets of the 1950s: without a shoulder seam, the sleeve moves with you, drapes cleaner, and layers without bunching. It's the version of the varsity jacket you can wear open over a knit and pass for tailoring — while the striped ribbing keeps just enough of the field in it. Back panel ships blank, ready for a crest, monogram, or chenille piece whenever you choose.

Fit & Sizing
The raglan shoulder means no seam sitting on the shoulder point — expect an easier, rounder fit through the upper body than a set-in-sleeve letterman, with the ribbed hem holding everything at the hip.
Model reference: Photographed on a 6'1" (185 cm), 170 lb (77 kg) model in size Medium.
Order your usual size — the raglan cut already builds in ease. Run your measurements past the size chart anyway; raglan sleeve length is measured differently from set-in sleeves, and the chart shows exactly how each size lands.
Why This Jacket
- Leather shirt collar — a rare upgrade over the standard rib-knit collar that makes this the most versatile, dressed-up varsity in the lineup
- Raglan cowhide sleeves — vintage award-jacket construction with a wider range of motion and a cleaner drape than seamed shoulders
- Tri-color striped ribbing — crimson and cream over black, knitted through the rib for color that outlasts the trend cycle
- Arrow-tipped welt pockets — a mid-century detail cut in matching black leather, the kind of finishing usually reserved for heritage reproductions
- Blank back panel — clean black canvas for chenille, embroidery, or nothing at all
Care Instructions
Dry clean only — this is a two-material garment and each half needs its own treatment. Give the leather collar and sleeves a light conditioning before heavy-wear season, let the jacket air on a wide hanger after rainy days rather than applying heat, and it will outlast every fast-fashion version of itself several times over.
Standard jackets ship in 5–7 business days; made-to-order and personalized jackets take 10–12 days, since each one is built after you order — not pulled from a shelf. Every custom jacket gets a pre-dispatch photo approval before it leaves our floor, so you know exactly what's shipping. Not the right fit? In-stock jackets can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of delivery. Full details in our Return Policy.
