Satin Varsity Jacket, Navy Bomber Style

This is the varsity jacket at its quietest. Deep navy satin runs unbroken across the body and raglan sleeves, the side-entry pockets are cut as tonal slits that all but disappear into the shell, and the only bright hardware is the line of white snaps down the placket. Navy-and-white striped ribbing rings the collar, cuffs, and waistband — the one place the jacket announces itself — and a snap tab closes the hem beneath it. The back is pure navy, nothing else.

Buyers always ask whether a jacket like this can handle real weather. With a quilted lining under a wind-blocking satin shell, a varsity jacket is warm enough for spring and fall — comfortable down to roughly 50°F (10°C) — though it isn't built for deep winter. That puts this one in rotation for most of the year: over a tee in April, over a heavy hoodie in November.

Fit & Sizing

Classic through the chest with the easy upper body a raglan cut brings — the sleeves join the collar on a diagonal, so lifting a bag or reaching across a table never tugs the hem out of place.

Model reference: Shown on a 6'1" (185 cm), 170 lb (77 kg) model in size Medium.

Stick with your usual size; the elasticated cuffs and ribbed waistband do the gathering the silhouette needs. Measure your chest and set the number against the size chart before checkout — a tonal jacket has no contrast panels to distract from a fit that's off.

Why This Jacket

  • Tonal from collar to cuff — navy on navy lets the white snaps and stripes do all the accenting
  • Disappearing pockets — side-entry slits melt into the body for an uninterrupted front
  • Most-of-the-year warmth — quilted lining under a shell that stops wind at the surface
  • Dresses up without trying — the darkest satin in the line sits comfortably over a collared shirt
  • Stripes as the signature — the ribbed trims carry the whole varsity identity in three thin white lines

Care Instructions

The threat to a lined satin jacket isn't wear — it's being put away damp. The quilted interior holds onto moisture from rain or a warm day long after the shell feels dry, and satin stored damp in a closed closet can develop mildew spots that never fully leave. After a wet or heavy-wear day, turn the jacket inside out, hang it on a wide hanger in open air until the lining is bone dry, then store it right side out with room to breathe on the rail.
