Distressed Varsity Jacket, Oversized Leather
Distressed Varsity Jacket, Oversized Leather
Most varsity jackets arrive looking new. This one arrives looking found — a vintage-washed grey hide, mottled light-to-dark across the chest, with seams and edges that shade almost to charcoal. A cream chenille M sits on the chest, a leather shirt collar replaces the usual knit band, and gunmetal snaps run the placket, while black-and-cream striped ribbing at the cuffs and hem keeps the letterman DNA intact.
A distressed finish comes from washing and tumbling the hide after dyeing, so the surface mottles and the seam lines darken — giving a brand-new jacket the shaded patina of one worn for years. Every panel takes the wash differently, which means no two jackets carry exactly the same clouding. The oversized cut leans into the thrifted-find effect: low shoulder seams, a wide chest, and sleeves that stack slightly over the striped cuffs.

Fit & Sizing
The cut runs wide and unhurried — shoulder seams land below the shoulder point, the body hangs straight from a broad chest, and the flat shirt collar keeps the neckline clean where a rib collar would add bulk.
Model reference: Shown on a 6'1" (185 cm), 170 lb (77 kg) model in size Medium.
Stick with your normal size — the extra room is deliberate, and sizing down flattens the relaxed drape the wash is meant to sell. Pull up the size chart and hold the pit-to-pit measurement against the widest jacket in your closet before you commit.
Why This Jacket
- Pre-aged patina — the vintage wash mottles every panel differently, so your jacket's shading is one of one
- Collar swap — a leather shirt collar trades the standard knit band for a cleaner, coach-jacket neckline
- Letter without the loudness — the cream chenille M reads varsity while the greyscale palette stays quiet
- Stripes at the exits — black-and-cream ribbing at cuffs and hem frames the wash instead of competing with it
- Built-in ease — drop shoulders and a wide chest layer over hoodies and heavy knits without strain
Care Instructions
The aging on this hide was done on purpose, so your job is to preserve it, not correct it. Skip polishes and heavy conditioners — anything that evens out the tone erases the mottling you paid for. Wipe with a dry cloth, keep it clear of radiators and direct sun that would push the fade further than intended, and let creases stay where they fall; on a distressed finish, they read as character rather than damage.
