Cropped Varsity Jacket, Leather Sleeves
Cropped Varsity Jacket, Leather Sleeves
Black wool forms the body and back panel, with Full Grain Cowhide leather sleeves set in at a traditional shoulder seam. The ribbed knit collar, cuffs, and waistband stay tonal black with no contrast stripe, and five silver snap buttons close the front placket. Two besom pockets are finished with a thin black leather piping that reads as a shadow line rather than a contrast trim.
Most two-tone varsity jackets rely on a stripe or contrast sleeve to define the silhouette, but this build strips that away: body, sleeves, trim, and hardware all stay within the same black tonal range. That monochrome approach shifts the visual interest onto texture instead of color — the matte wool against the leather's slight sheen is what reads from a distance, not a stripe or a second hue.

Fit & Sizing
This jacket holds the same cropped, boxy shape as our other set-in-sleeve styles, with the shoulder seam sitting closer to the body than a raglan cut for a cleaner line under the collar.
Model reference: Shown on a 5'7" (170 cm), 121 lb (55 kg) model in size Small.
The leather sleeves have little give compared to the wool body, so if you're layering underneath, size up rather than relying on stretch. Check our size chart against your chest and shoulder measurements before ordering.
Why This Jacket
- Tonal monochrome build — no contrast stripe or sleeve color breaking up the black, unlike our two-tone styles.
- Full Grain Cowhide sleeves, genuine not coated — real leather with a natural texture, not a synthetic finish.
- Set-in sleeve construction — the traditional shoulder seam gives a cleaner, more structured line than a raglan cut.
- Silver snap hardware — reads more minimal than the white-snap detailing on our contrast-trim jackets.
- Cropped fit built for high-rise pairing — sits right at the waistband so it doesn't compete with a longline bottom.
Care Instructions
Because both materials are black, it's easy to blur which section is which when cleaning — check the seam line before treating either side. Brush or steam the wool body to lift dust, but keep steam off the leather sleeves, and condition the leather every few months with a leather-specific product rather than a wool-safe one. Black also shows fading differently than lighter colors: prolonged direct sunlight can pull a brownish cast into black wool over time, so store it away from a sunny closet window or car window.
