Black Leather Varsity Jacket, Ribbed Collar

Black leather forms the entire body and sleeves, with a raglan seam running from the underarm up to a ribbed knit collar rather than a set-in shoulder. Two slanted welt pockets sit at an angle instead of the vertical besom cut used on our other styles, and a silver-tone zipper runs the full front closure in place of a snap-button placket. The ribbed knit waistband splits into two sections at center front, meeting the base of the zipper.

This is the only jacket in our current lineup built with a zip front instead of snap buttons, and that changes more than the hardware: a zipper pulls the front closed flush and even, without the slight overlap a snap placket creates, giving this piece a cleaner, more bomber-inspired line than our traditional letterman-cut styles.

The raglan seam and zip front give this jacket a closer, more tailored line through the body than our snap-button styles, sitting at the hip rather than cropped at the waist.

Full leather has very little stretch, and the zip front sits closer to the body than a snap placket does, so if you plan on layering underneath, sizing up is worth considering. Match your chest and shoulder measurements to our size chart before ordering.

Care Instructions

The zipper needs its own upkeep separate from the leather: run a dry lubricant like paraffin or a dedicated zipper wax along the teeth every few months to keep it pulling smoothly, and avoid forcing it if it snags, since yanking a stuck zipper can bend the pull or split the tape. For the leather itself, condition every few months with a leather-specific product and keep it out of prolonged direct sun, which can dry and crack the surface over time.
