Black and White Varsity Jacket, Cropped
Black and White Varsity Jacket, Cropped
Black wool forms the body and back panel, with Full Grain Cowhide leather sleeves in white set in at a traditional shoulder seam. A ribbed knit collar, cuffs, and waistband carry a double white stripe against black ribbing, and five white snap buttons close the front placket. Two besom pockets are finished with a thin white piping along the opening.
Black and white is closer to the original varsity jacket colorway than most modern versions. Before jackets were customized to match individual school colors, the earliest collegiate letterman jackets were most commonly dark-bodied with white or cream trim and sleeves — a high-contrast, easy-to-produce combination before dye options expanded. This jacket keeps that same high-contrast structure: a solid dark body, bright white sleeves and trim, and nothing in between to soften the two-tone effect.

Fit & Sizing
The cropped, boxy shape is consistent with our other wool-and-leather styles, and the set-in sleeve keeps the shoulder line clean rather than adding the bulk a raglan seam sometimes does.
Model reference: Shown on a 5'7" (170 cm), 121 lb (55 kg) model in size Small.
The white leather sleeves won't stretch the way a knit sleeve would, so if a hoodie is going underneath, size up rather than counting on room to spare. Double check your chest and shoulder measurements against our size chart before ordering.
Why This Jacket
- The most classic two-tone combination — black and white is closer to the original letterman colorway than most modern variations.
- Full Grain Cowhide sleeves in a bright white — genuine leather, not a coated finish, for a cleaner contrast against the black wool.
- High-contrast trim with no in-between tone — the collar, cuffs, and waistband carry the same black-and-white stripe as the body, keeping the palette consistent.
- Besom pockets finished in white piping — a small detail that keeps the front from reading as flat black.
- Cropped fit built for high-rise pairing — sits right at the waistband so it doesn't compete with a longline bottom.
Care Instructions
White leather shows scuffs and dirt more visibly than the black wool body does, so wipe the sleeves down after wear if they've picked up marks from bags, railings, or car doors. Use a leather cleaner made for light-colored leather rather than a generic conditioner, since some conditioners can yellow white leather over time. The black wool needs less frequent attention — a brush or light steam is usually enough to keep it looking fresh between wears.
